Dictum Health's Care Central service includes two HIPAA-compliant medical portals — one for administrators, and one for clinicians — which allow for the management of all devices and patients, Features include alert management, the ability to hold a virtual exam, DICOM approval, and the monitoring of test results in real-time.
I worked with the CEO, the VP of Product, and the Development Team to update the existing layout and visual design, and incorporate new product features and client requests.
Research
I didn't get access to any other medical dashboards, like Epic, so I concentrated on finding visual design elements that I thought were effective, even if they didn't wholly fit the scenario.
Clinician Portal
The Clinician Portal was designed for medical staff to perform tasks and interact directly with patients.
Planning
I started by looking at the current system and creating wireframes, user flows, and a sitemap for myself. I made suggestions to the product manager for consolidating some redundant pages and focusing on the expected user path.
Visual Design
The visual design came out of the branding redesign, incorporating the new brand colors and adapting a cleaner aesthetic.
Mobile Version
The mobile version functions as a web app and is focused on the very basic elements -- patient results, alerts, and virtual exam.
Administrator Portal
The Administrator Portal is for program administrators to manage patients, medical staff, groups, and devices for organizations from mom-and-pop clinics to large hospital systems.
planning
The basic design emulates the Clinician Portal, so this was mostly about organizing the site features for this particular audience.
visual design
The visual design of the Admin portal follows the design of established with the Clinician portal.
